SHOW REPORT

This was a showcase of some of the events we run in the official competitions so no overall winner was declared, however here are a selection of results from a few of the events.

Log Press - both Paul Smith (12 reps) and Scott Mark Litchfield (13 reps) the standout competitors in the log press. The crowd clearly backing the world class profile of Paul Smith and face painted warrior Scott working up the crowd.

Simon Knowles former Yorkshire's strongest man

Stone throw - Scott has already amassed two titles of the Peak District Highland Games champion and even in the demonstration events throws performs consistently well. Lets be in no doubt for some of the guys these demonstrations we do are a warm up and practice for the competitions. But be under no illusion in Sheffield the guys had their game face on and all like to get one over each other (in a fun / rivalry kind of way)

2. Simon Knowles 10m 20
3. Paul Smith 10 metres
4. Dave Thornton 9 m 40
5. Ashton Reid 9m

Dave Thornton is no doubt becoming a growing threat to the podium in the official Peak District Highland Games. He won the caber and pushed Scott down from his top finishes so far. Paul Smith struggled a little at tossing the caber but we got some great shots on the release from the caber whilst Paul was perfecting his technique. Ashton and Simon Knowles getting the caber nice and high.

Caber Toss
1. Dave Thornton 9 metres
2. Scott Mark Litchfield 8m 10
3. Ashton Reid 7m 30

Another Dave Thornton event. He even found time to talk to the referee Mark Anglesea whilst picking up the nitemare Husafell stone that some of ghe athletes struggled to event lift and grip. Once off Dave put in a blistering pace rightfully securing first place. We are looking forward to seeing what Dave can do this year at competitions.

Stone Carry
Dave Thornton - 1st place - 13.74 seconds
Scott Mark Litchfield 2nd place 14.83 seconds

Ashton the bear Reid

Always a crowd favourite we did the tug of war with 20 screaming Sheffield strong children taking on the athletes. Over 3 rounds backed by an atmospheric crowd on the 3rd round the strongman sat down with the rope to stop the strong kids winning until finally succumbing to the children's relentless pulling of the rope.

In between events the guys were kept busy with photo requests, lifting people up and chatting to crowd members. Strength for life also came down to talk to the crowd about their physio services across Sheffield. Check them out here: https://www.strengthforlifeltd.co.uk/
