PRESS RELEASE 25TH AUGUST 2019 PEAK DISTRICT HIGHLAND GAMES EVENT

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The youngest man in History to win England’s strongest man prepares to do battle in the Peak District Highland Games in Matlock Sunday, 25th August 2019

In its third instalment the popular Peak District Highland Games rolls into town at Matlock Farm Park bringing all the fanfare of World’s Strongest man that dons our tv sets every Christmas to the Peaks – except you can watch it live here in the Picturesque Peak District.
And these guys eat big, lift big and prepare to do battle across 7 gruelling events inspired by the Highland Games and strongman events. This includes an 8 tonne tractor pull - man vs machine -  pulled over 25 metres - the caber toss, log press, inspired Dinnie Stones, stone carry and stone throw.

Talking BIG former Sheffield, Doncaster’s and even Yorkshire’s strongest man Simon Knowles who weighs around 28 stones, stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall and eats over 6500 calories a day is intending on taking the win.

Not forgetting two times Peak District Highland Games champion and also a former Sheffield’s strongest man titlist himself Scott Mark Litchfield who is after a hat trick win at the Peak District Highland Games.

However entering this year to spoil the party is Paul Smith who has a wealth of experience at World strongman level, former England’s strongest man, former World’s strongest Junior and who holds a World record, beating Eddie Hall in the Hammer hold as part of his impressive resume.

With an ultra impressive line up including experienced Highland games strongman competitors, Richard Hansen, Zac Perry, Dave Thornton, Jake Rideout, Rob Marsh, and newcomers Dave Johnson, Mark Thomson, Shaun Blairs and Dan McNamee who is former Suffolks Strongest man, who knows what will happen.

Also in attendance will be former strongman and two times Guinness World Record Holder Mark Anglesea as head referee and official on the day.

There is only one way to find out, come along and watch the strongmen do battle. With a Scottish theme including competitors in kilts, a bag pipe band and Highland games events this popular attraction is a must see.

Andrew Picken Man Beast founder commented ' although we run highland games shows at different events across the UK, this is by far our most competitive Highland games competition in the calendar. The guys have fun but the aim of the game is to take the title and they are all hungry to do so this year as the title gains more credibility in the sport. Its an added bonus the venue really suits the competition and has lots of things to do throughout the day for the whole family'.
